Mural Art in Rosario

The city of Rosario is located in the Eastern zone of the Departamento of Colonia, 52 Km. from Colonia del Sacramento, and 132Km. from Montevideo, on the touristic corridor of Route 1.

It is a city that combines history, art and nature, being recognized as the City of Historic Mural Art.

This first Uruguayan museum of the historic mural art was started in 1994, and is, today, undoubtedly, the business card of the city. The murals are directly connected either to regional anecdotes or to specific historic events that happened in the area. These works of art transpire aesthetic expression, tales and history.

We strongly recommend a guided tour that will immerse you in the “uproaring block”, the “walk of the light”, the “street of the memory”, and the “carnival walk”.
