Sun and beach

Another example of unspoiled, exuberant nature in the area is the vast chain of coastline along the extensive Río de la Plata. From secluded and tranquil spots to crowded beach and town resorts, are the different options offered to visitors searching for landscapes and nature.

Towards the East of the department, some of the outstanding spots are: Los Pinos, Britópolis, Blancarena and Fomento beach.

On the West we find Boca del Rosario and Juan Lacaze resort towns. From then on towards Colonia del Sacramento start the most sandy, soft beaches and resort towns; Artilleros, Santa Ana, El Calabrés, Ferrando, and an extensive strech of beach along the bay of the capital.

The coastline goes further beyond Colonia del Sacramento to Barrancas de San Pedro, Conchillas, Carmelo and Nueva Palmira.

Sunsets are a typical featura of Colonia coastline.
